Koto: "My friend Phil is supposed to be watching the front desk right now, but I can't find him anywhere. Knowing him, he's probably run off to play somewhere in the city. But Phil's mother is really scary. I don't even want to think about what might happen if she finds out he's goofing off. He's practically risking his life by wandering off like this."
Allegretto: "Aren't you overreacting? Being punished is just a part of learning how to behave."
Koto: "It's not that simple. You don't know what Phil's mom is like! It'll be terrible if she finds out. It would be a lot worse than him getting sent to bed with no dinner, or a hundred spankings."
— Koto lays it on thick.

Koto is a young girl who lives in Forte City.

Appearance and personalityEdit

Koto is a young girl with reddish hair. She has a tendency towards drama and a very commanding personality, sometimes even able to keep her prankish friend in line.

The party finds Koto managing Forte City's inn in stead of her friend Phil, whose parents own the inn. She begs them to find Phil, who has a very scary mother that supposedly will kill him if the she finds out that he's gone off to play. The party reluctantly agrees to help out, as they will not be able to stay the night at the inn if they do not help first. They find Phil at the Glissando Cliffs and return him home safely. Koto tells him that the party needs a place to stay the night.

Koto is able to keep some of Phil's prankish behavior in check. The two have known each other since they were babies, and Koto often cleans up after him. She wishes to travel the world when she grows up.

A koto is a traditional Japanese musical stringed instrument with thirteen strings played by finger picks.[1] As a traditional instrument not normally found often outside of Japan, it is unlikely that Frédéric François Chopin would have been familiar with it, potentially making it one of the game's many anachronisms.
