The Anathema is a monster battled in the Celesta Forest in the World of Eternal Sonata.

Details[]

The Anathema appears in groups of two or three in battle in the Celesta Forest. One of these guards the treasure chest containing a Spell Book accessory that can be traded with the Magic Researcher in Baroque Castle

Attacks[]

The normal attack is a whack with its mace on all at melee range. Cursed Mace is a similar attack on a single target that deals greater damage. Capital Punishment is an attack at the end of its turn that spins skulls around a single target for heavy damage. Visitantia is a distance attack on a single target with a chance of knockdown. It can use Invite to heal an ally in critical for 18170, or if it is in critical itself, use a Strength Steal energy attack to drain HP from all targets grouped close together.

Strategy[]

Encountering an Anathema in the Field

Allegretto encounters an Anathema while exploring the Celesta Forest.

These enemies are a lot like the Maledictor and Scourger opponents encountered earlier in the game, so the player should be well familiar with the general attack pattern. The choice of party members is greater than ever and stronger characters may easily be able to defeat these in one turn simply by using a series of normal attacks followed by a Special. Their attacks are generally easy to Guard against or even Counterattack and only the Capital Punishment is particularly damaging if it hits without being Guarded against. If one of them is in critical, try to kill it off before another can use Invite on it.

Trivia[]

Viola battles an Anathema.

  • In the PlayStation 3 version of Eternal Sonata, the amount of EXP granted for defeating this opponent was greatly decreased, but its stats otherwise seem to be generally the same.
