- "Baroque, my beloved homeland!"
- —Crescendo, occasionally, upon leveling up in battle
Baroque is a kingdom within the World of Eternal Sonata, located largely within the northern reaches. Its capital is Baroque City, which is perpetually covered in snow, though it still has seasons of greater and lesser snowfall. Its cold and snowy climate has not stopped it from playing host to a prosperous city. Located at the outskirts of the city is the elegant Baroque City and the town also plays host to the festively decorated Baroque Ship. It is a monarchy that has been traditionally ruled by a king. It is unknown what role, if any, the queen plays in its government.
The kingdom is currently ruled by Prince Crescendo in the stead of his ailing father, King Baroque. It has long had a contentious relationship with Forte, the kingdom to the south. It eschews the mineral powder being distributed by Forte and forbids the sale or use of it within its territories. Its citizens enjoy great prosperity but have been hurt by the lack of trade to the southern lands in Forte due to Count Waltz's policies.
Behind the scenesEdit
- After the fall of Count Waltz, Baroque presumably becomes the de facto governing country over Forte until such time as they can elect a new leader. Beat notes that Prince Crescendo will have a lot to do, having to take of both Baroque and Forte, and that he and the others of the party will have to help.
- In reference to music, Baroque was a style of music popular from approximately 1600-1750, a type of ornate and heavily ornamented music. A number of popular classical composers, including Handel and Bach composed during this period.
